Bring on the HEALING!

As I sit here in the hospital room while Miles is sleeping, I cannot be more thankful or grateful to God for taking such wonderfu care of Miles thru her surgery and healing. The surgery went "better than anticipated" according to her Dr. and he also said that her bones looked better than a 2yr olds that had the same surgery last week. He said she was strong, healthy and her hip now looked stable and should heal up and be strong! That is exactly what we prayed for!!!

Miles' surgery lasted 4 hours and then about another hour for the casting.  She decided that she wanted a pink cast with purple stripes and that is exactly what she got.  The cast goes from above her bellybutton to her ankle on the left leg and is bent and turned where her heel faces inward and to jst above her knee on the right leg and it is bent also. Positioning her to where she is comfortable & not in a completely awkward position is going to be one of the biggest things for us to learn how to do. She is doing great telling us when she needs to go potty & so far has not had an accident (everyone has said she would probably need to go back in some type of diaper...she has proved them wrong as of now).  She is still in some pain and mostly uncomfortable. She had muscle spasms starting Wed. night after surgery & casting which is common, but obviously scary for her and painful to be jerking uncontrollably when your body already hurts from such a major surgery. Luckily, they can give her meds for that to help relax her which helped alot.

She has been pretty bummed about the cast and just wants to be able to move around better. We cannot imagine what she is going thru and how her little mind and body are processing this huge change.

Overall, she is doing so well and is off all her IV fluids & the morphine pump she had the 1st 24 hrs. She did the honors of pulling her IV port out at about 3am this morning and was covered in blood (so fun tobe awakened by that). I think that she put her little hand in the top of her cast on her belly in her sleep and it got yanked out because most of the blood was on her tummy, cast, hands and around her gown.  She also got her drains removed this morning and is now not hooked up to ANYTHING!

In other news, yesterday our sweet baby Madeline Jane turned 2 months old!!! The time is just flying by and I cannot believe that she is already 2mo. while at the same time it seems like she has just always been here. Madeline is such a great baby and is really coming into her own. She loves to babble, be naked baby, sit totally upright, in fact it is quite offensive to her to be layed down like a baby and most of all LOVES eat and snuggle (my favs!). She is a beautiful girl and I know she will grow up so fast like Miles has. We are cherishing her sweet little chubby cheeks and eating up all the grins and snuggle time we can, before we know it she will be a wild woman like her big sister ;)

Today is Frank and my 5th anniversary...I am wishing we were not sitting in a hospital room with our sweet girl going thru this, but there is no one else in the world I would choose to have by my side. He is my best friend and love and I cannot imagine a better husband or father for our girls. Happy Anniversary, Frank!
