The Countdown...

Well, we went yesterday to Campbell's Clinic for Miles' pre-op visit with the Dr. Everything is set and ready for her surgery on Wednesday, March 2nd.  He said that it will be a 4-5 hour surgery and she will have 2, maybe 3 surgeons working on her to try and minimize her surgery time. She will have the cast put on while she is still under anesthesia, which I am so thankful for. She won't have to be awake during that.

The Dr. said that we are going to have to be in the cast for 6 weeks, then come in have it taken off and another one put on for an additional 6 weeks. The reality of a full 12 weeks in a cast is terrifying to me and I am praying that it will be better than I expect and that we will all adapt to it and be able to still do things "normally" like going to church, getting out some and taking her to the movies, etc... He said that we would be able to get a reclining wheelchair to have her ride in for outings and that he thought we could still do some things, which made us all feel a little better.

Miles is so social that the biggest thing for her is going to be seeing people and not being cooped up all the time with me. I think there is only so much one-on-one Mommy time that she will be able to tolerate. The girl lives for an audience and loves getting out so we are going to just have to find ways to get her out and change up the scenery as much as possible once she starts feeling better.

A picture of the sweet girl...
